Rehearsals / How to Join Us
Mondays 7-9 pm from September June at West Elgin Senior Elementary School in West Lorne, Ontario.
West Lorne is about 35 minutes’ drive from London or from Chatham.
We usually do two concerts a year, one in the late fall and one at the end of our season in June.
How to Join
The WECB encourages new members to join. Members must have their own
instrument. Information about rentals or purchase of used instruments is
available.
You are eligible to join if you played in high school, even if you were
wearing saddle shoes or hip huggers at the time, and haven’t played since then
or, if you have learned as an adult and want a group to play with.
The WECB is a teaching band, so we work on things like scales and rhythm,
along with our band repertoire.
The WECB has lots of fun at rehearsals and we have a social snack break in
the middle. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive. People are playing at
different levels. Sharon is easy going, though she expects a lot of us, like
reading the notes and the rhythms AND the dynamic markings, sometimes all at
once! It's a great release from the stress of the day.
Fees
Fees for the 2006-2007 season are $60 for adults and $30 for students. Our
fees pay our director a small stipend, pay the rent, and purchase some of our
music.
Each member also buys a method book and jazz ensemble book.
